Avid Orb User Brings Media Freedom To 400 Million Spanish Speakers

Orb’s Free MyCast Service Allows Users to Enjoy and Share Photos, Videos, Music, TV and More on Any Device with an Internet Browser and Streaming Media Player

EMERYVILLE, Calif. – May 2, 2007 - Orb Networks today announced that its MyCasting Web application is now available in Spanish. Just as people today have all types of digital media – music, video, TV and more – on their PCs, Orb let’s them enjoy all their media on other computers, laptops, mobile phones, PDAs and even televisions. The free service is now available in 10 languages, including German, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and French. The Spanish version of Orb was translated in part by an avid user who used the company’s new online “Translate It” system to help bring the MyCasting service to Spanish-speaking communities worldwide.

“We developed the ‘Translate It’ System – and the recently released API – in response to requests from our passionate user base for tools to customize Orb,” said Dr. Luc Julia, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Orb Networks. “We encourage other Orb users to customize and internationalize the software into new languages.” Julia went on to say that an additional six languages are currently being translated by Orb’s user community and will be available soon.

Orb's free MyCasting software (www.orb.com) allows you to enjoy all digital media from your home PC, as well as online videos from the growing source of Internet TV and content sites, on any networked device with an internet browser. That means users can have their media on virtually any device – be it another PC, lap top, PDA or mobile phone with a streaming player – including a TV via the Wii™, PlayStation 3™ and Xbox™ 360 game consoles.

A simple download of the Orb software to an always-on Windows XP or Vista PC is all it takes to start MyCasting. The service turns the home PC into a personal broadcasting system, and lets users build and organize their own "channels" to enjoy their music, photos, video, TV, documents and other extras. Then, using any Web browser with a media player, users simply log onto their personal "MyCast" account and can start streaming their channel programming and enjoying the content when (time), where (place), and how (device) they want it. For live and recorded broadcast TV to work, the home PC needs to have a TV tuner card. Total set up of Orb and the TV tuner card takes only five minutes. Without a tuner card, users can still access hundreds of Internet TV stations from around the world.

More About “Translate It” and How You Can Volunteer to "Internationalize" Orb’s free MyCasting Service
The online tool, called "Translate It," gives users the instant gratification of seeing translated copy dynamically rendered within the application so they can see completed work in a "live" working environment. Using a Wikipedia™ approach to editing, at least one other user reviews the accuracy of the translation before it is approved for release on Orb’s Web site at www.orb.com/en/download_orb. The tool provides a real-time running tally of the percentage of translation for each language completed, how many ‘strings’ or lines of copy are completed, the items that need to be reviewed and those that have been updated.

If you are an Orb user and want to customize Orb, visit the Orb Community Forum at www.orb.com/translate. Register to participate and then get access to the online tool where you can volunteer to help translate languages already in progress. If there is a new language you want to translate, you can get it started on your own. That’s it. Orb engineers will work with you directly as the language translation continues.
