One of the most common set of questions we have received about Orb and
Wii involves the streaming of Orb media to the Wii. This includes:
Why can’t I stream Orb media to my Wii inside my LAN?
I downloaded Orb on my PC – why can’t I stream any media to my Wii?
When I am away from home, I can use Orb to listen to my music on my home PC.
Why can’t I stream the media from my home PC to my Wii in the living room?
Below are a set of guidelines and tips that will help you get your media streaming
from your home PC using Orb to your Wii easily.
- From your Opera browser on your Wii, go to mycast.orb.com and enter your Orb
login and password.
- On your Wii, verify that the Orb Flash Player is selected in the Orb Control Panel.
Click on Open Application > Control Panel > General > Streaming Formats
- Verify that your home PC firewall does not block incoming TCP port 80. You will also need
to create incoming and outgoing traffic rules to enable Orb to stream media from your PC
to either an Internet-connected device or a device within your Local Area Network (LAN),
such as another PC, a laptop, a PDA, or a game console (Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, etc.).
- Each streaming media player uses different ports for streaming.
a. Windows media (WMP, WinAmp, TCPMP, or Flash Player): TCP port 80
b. Real media (RealPlayer): TCP port 554
c. 3GP media (Quicktime or other 3GP player): TCP port 554 and UDP
ports 13398 to 13401
- Each personal firewall product has different instructions for changing
streaming traffic settings. Please click here for specific instructions for configuring your firewall. If your firewall software is not listed, refer to your firewall help guide for specific step-by-step instructions on how to create incoming and outgoing traffic rules for your
Orb streaming application.
